The Hausa people have a rich cultural tradition and celebrate a variety of festivals throughout the year. Some of the most well-known Hausa festivals include:

Durbar festival

A traditional Islamic festival that is celebrated in cities and towns across Nigeria and Niger, typically during the Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha celebrations. It is a colorful parade of horse riders and traditional Hausa leaders and dignitaries in traditional regalia, accompanied by music and dancing.

Wakar Sallah

A traditional Islamic festival that is celebrated in Nigeria and Niger at the end of the Ramadan fasting period. The festival is marked by the recitation of poetry and the exchange of gifts, and is considered one of the most important festivals in the Hausa calendar.

Gerewol festival

A traditional festival of the Wodaabe people, a subgroup of the Hausa people, celebrated annually in Niger, is a beauty contest where young men dress up in elaborate costumes and makeup and perform traditional dances to win the hearts of the young women.

Gobirawa Festival

Is a traditional festival of the Gobir kingdom, one of the Hausa states, celebrated annually in Nigeria, it is a horse riding and wrestling competition among the young men of the kingdom.

Zayyana Festival

Is a traditional festival of the Zazzau kingdom, another of the Hausa states, celebrated annually in Nigeria, it's a colorful parade of the traditional leaders and dignitaries of the kingdom, accompanied by music and dancing.

These festivals are usually celebrated with great fanfare, accompanied by traditional music, dancing, and the exchange of gifts. They are an important aspect of Hausa culture and are a way for the community to come together and celebrate their shared history and traditions.
